Raise Your Voice, Move Forward

Hi I’m Amanda,

I’m a current Social Welfare Law, Policy and Advice Practice student alongside having the honour of being a Student Trustee and also Department Representative for Social Work and Social Welfare.

From being a mum, accessing our fantastic university nursery to sitting on School Academic Committees representing our department I have seen and experienced so much a lot of that is thanks to the amazing support from our Students Union.

A vote for me is;

  • We should champion our Mental Health, not just our academic success.
  • We have amazing campuses, but no campus should feel secluded by distance. We are the connected University, it’s time we acted like one.
  • Create a more open conversation between university and union. Improving signposting by increasing the support available.
  • Ensure that opportunities are available for all demographics – no one demographic should be singled out, every Network we have creates amazing chances for support and growth but there is so much more potential if we work together and show support.
  • A more easily accessible student service, as students we should know where to go before September Welcome Week.
  • A more open dialogue to support students with additional requirements. Involving Enabling, YOUR lecturers and YOU at the core
  • Step Up – Step Up is a unique course to Staffordshire University that we should be proud of and should be at the forefront of open days.
  • Foundation Year Students – they form an integral part of the student experience at Staffordshire University, yet all to often they feel secluded from the university experience not knowing where to turn for advice. I want to see this change

A vote for me is a vote for a more inclusive student experience.

So vote for me between 17th– 19thMarch on our union website.

We proudly represent the academic interests of all Students at Staffordshire University. Providing advice, student groups and fantastic experiences that make us all very Proud to be Staffs.
