Heya, my name is Maximilian Horsley and I'll be running for the Manager position for the Pokémon Society this year. In my first year, I had the honour of being the Deputy Manager and helping Emily in setting up enjoyable events for our society. Now that I’m about to enter my third year, I want to go all out and aim for the position of Society Manager.
Throughout my life, I’ve grown up alongside Pokémon. Whether it be the games, the anime, the TCG, the spinoffs and more. At its best and at its worst, I’ve always been a fan of Pokémon and enjoyed every moment of the ride. I love Pokémon and it feels only suitable that I run for this position in order to share the joy of Pokémon with even more people!
If I’m elected for this position, I’ll immediately get onto planning events for the year. I already have plenty of ideas when it comes to tournaments for both the games and the TCG. Recently, the society has branched out to collaborate with Pokémon Societies in different universities. An idea that I really hope to bring to reality is a nationwide gym challenge where each university represents a type. On top of that, I hope to continue movie nights, quiz nights and drawing nights as these have turned into staple events for the society, thanks to the efforts of the committee in the previous years.
Another thing I wish to keep is the biweekly social events. I think it’s important for the Pokémon Society to be a welcoming place and partially function as a home away from home. Something I hold very closely is the importance of comfort and I feel like a welcoming space where people can just enjoy Pokémon to their heart’s content is very important.
It would be a dream come true to have the opportunity to organise events around one of my biggest passions. In doing so, I hope I have the chance to bring joy to all our current and new members. Whether I win or lose, I look forward to seeing you all at the Pokémon Society next year!
