Eloise Henley

Let me be your voice! Vote to be heard.

I am Eloise Henley; a level 5 Biomedical Science student and I would love to represent your interests as your Biology department rep!

I am incredibly passionate about the student experience, and I want all of us here at Staffs to have the best one possible, especially with the tough challenges we have all faced over the past year.

A visible, active representative

I would be a visible, active presence within our department, always available to listen to and discuss your concerns, whether that be face to face, or online via teams or email. As well as regular communications with course reps, I would aim to set up a space where I would be available at least once per week for any students to come along and have a chat about any issues or concerns they may have – or even positive feedback, which I am sure the staff in our department would be equally keen to hear about!

Student mental wellbeing in the Biosciences

One of my focus points would be putting an emphasis on student mental health within the department. Student mental health is a cause close to my heart, as I am sure it is to a lot of yours, I recently partook in fundraising for Mind, in a challenge centred around raising awareness for the 27% of students who report dealing with mental health issues whilst studying at University. I would like to use this opportunity to make sure all students in the department feel that they are advocated for. I want to ensure that there is clear signposting available within shared learning spaces for bioscience students, making it easier for everyone to access any help and support that they feel is best for them.

Staffs Biosciences – a community

I am very keen to further develop our sense of community within the department, alongside the great activities we already have in place, such as Biology and a biscuit. One of the ways I would like to do this, is by opening channels of communication between Bioscience students at all levels, where we can offer one another advice and support in getting through the course by sharing resources, knowledge, and experiences. One individual’s weakness is often another’s strength, and by coming together and supporting one another where possible, we can create a real sense of community within our department.

A vote for me is a vote for you. Vote Eloise for department rep!
