Hi I'm Daniil, also known as Niip and my pronouns are He/They/Xey! (I'm the one with Tourette’s that's always asking people to play cards with me)!
As a trainee counsellor, equality, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of what I do! I can't speak for all minority groups, but I try my absolute best to make sure that all groups of people are heard.
Intersectionality is very important to me when it comes to mine and others’ identity. I hope to provide a network of people, that aims to work towards collaborative efforts from the university as well as the union. From this, I want to achieve a safe environment where all identities aren’t ignored or challenged.
As a Network Committee member, I would like to continue the hard work of the previous committee. With the cost-of-living increasing and the expanse of the GIC waiting lists, I would like to expand and continue the use of the Transition Fundraiser in order to support more trans+ and gender expansive students to achieve their medical and social needs.
I feel that making sex-ed more readily available to the LGBT+ community is also an important goal. Sex and sexual health can often be unsafe and uncomfortable, and ensuring that this education is inclusive to all bodies and abilities is a good step forward.
I would also like to increase our engagement with other societies and networks, so that students with intersectional identities (identities that cross over into other groups) have more opportunities to interact with others like them.
As an active member of the network over the last few years, the Network has become an important space for me, and I would love to be able to provide this experience for you too.
