Mareeta Lewis

Hi everyone! My name is Mareeta, although most people call me 'mars', and yes, mars like the chocolate bar! I am almost 27 years old, I have two Staffordshire bull terrier dogs called Bella and Koko. I am getting married in April 2023. I am a bubbly, excitable, happy-go-lucky kind of girl. I am very approachable, and I am always down for a chat, probably because I love the sound of my own voice too much ha! I am very kind and understanding, and this in part comes from my desire to encourage others to pursue their full potential. My little motto I tell myself every single day is “you can and you will”, and this philosophy will be at the heart of everything I would enact as the psychology department rep. I want you all to know that all feedback matters! I will be there to support each and every one of you, you no matter what! I am currently a level 4 forensic and criminological psychology student at Staffs. During my first year at Staffs, I have been a course rep and I have actively been involved in all the department meetings to date and I have a passion for creating positive changes and helping others through difficult times and formulating action plans to help each individual reach their full potential. No issue is too big or too small, so if you’re unhappy with anything I would love to know! Similarly, if you have any positive feedback, again I would love to know! Every one of your opinions are valid and important and they do matter! Without collecting all possible feedback, we cannot collate data and effect changes where necessary. As a course rep I am already aware of issues that are specific to my course, and I always have lots of input at the course rep meetings. I want to ensure that the opinions of everyone who has given me feedback are clearly and fairly represented, especially during the difficult and uncertain times we are currently facing. As a department rep, I will voice issues that affect each psychology course and will rally to enact positive changes to ensure every psychology students gains the most out of their university experience and their course. As a psychology department rep, I will continue to be actively engaging in feedback meetings, calling meetings where I feel this is necessary and I will always be available for a chat, if you would prefer to email or speak via a team’s meeting, I am more than happy do to this. I would look at organising periodic “drop-ins” for students so that if you do need any specific support or any feedback or comments, you are welcome to drop in and have a chat! I will always represent the voices of all psychology students, irrespective of which discipline you study. By voting for me, you will be voting for fair representation and fighting for ALL students!
