Quality Mark is changing

You may have noticed that each Sports team, club or society on the Union Website have a ‘Quality Mark’ banner on their page. This was a way to let prospective members of that student group that the group had been awarded for what they were doing.

Well, Quality Mark has changed this year, and it aims to reward student groups that give the best student experience to both members and non-members.

The union is looking for evidence of a significant contribution towards its members, the Union, the University or the local community.

Rather than just receiving a well done and a pat on the back, the Quality Mark programme will now award any student group that secure ‘Bronze’, ‘Silver’ or ‘Gold’ status.

Not only will you be rewarded, but your reputation among student will improve.

Bronze Status:

  • Bronze Quality Mark logo to use on all materials for the academic year
  • Bronze Quality Mark status in all SU materials
  • Bronze Quality Mark logo on website
  • AND £50 towards a student-led event or project
  • OR £50 worth of publicity material (pull up banners, leaflets, design consultation, etc.)

Silver Status:

  • Silver Quality Mark logo to use on all materials for the academic year
  • Silver Quality Mark status in all SU materials
  • Silver Quality Mark logo on website
  • AND £100 towards publicity material
  • OR £100 towards developmental activities
  • OR £100 towards sports kit

Gold Status:

  • Gold Quality Mark logo to use on all materials for the academic year
  • Gold Quality Mark status in all SU materials
  • Gold Quality Mark logo on website
  • Recognition at Annual Awards
  • Committee members welcomed to an exclusive networking session with a range of recruitment agencies
  • Next year’s group will be given free gym membership for their entire student group for semester 1.
  • Gold Balloons and table at either the Sports Ball or Proud to be Staffs Awards
  • Gold Banners/Branding at Welcome Week following year
  • First preference on table at student group fairs following year.
  • AND £200 towards a student- led event or project
  • OR £200 publicity material (pull up banners, leaflets, design consultation, etc)
  • OR £200 towards sports kit
  • OR £100 in Sponsorship account

Groups can gain these statuses through fulfilling some set criteria, including commitment and engagement with the Students’ Union, your groups commitment to equality and diversity and effectively manage your groups finances, as well as much more.

Committee members from the group will then have to submit proof that the criteria has been fulfilled, which in turn will be judged by a panel of Student Officers, Student Reps and Staff Reps.
