SUL football friendly

London!

On Tuesday 8th March we had a first for Staffordshire University London and held our very own SUL Football friendly! An open call to all students regardless of ability or experience, we saw 20 students (and some staff too) battle it out for ultimate bragging rights as the best team on campus!

The idea was initially pitched by Ade, a level 4 Computer Science student who said the event is something that is “much needed for my mental and physical health… it’s a good break from all the work after a long day and would definitely love to have it more often.”

Once the word was out there, it didn’t take too long to get people on board, with the SUL Marketing Officer even getting involved and quickly putting together a ‘SUL FC’ Logo to support all the people playing!

Playing on the 9v9 pitch opposite our campus, it was an intense battle, with an early goal scored in the first 5 minutes. Both teams took this as a challenge though, and the stakes were majorly lifted, with the level of the game and competition only being raised. After a little bit of a stalemate, the final 20 minutes of the match ramped up even further, with an additional 3 goals being scored, making the FT score 2-2 and it is ending in a very respectable draw.

I guess it just means we’ll have to have another one of these to determine a winner hey?...
