Weekend of Sports - 29/01/16 - Report

The weekend was full of sporting action across the globe, in some of the biggest competitions out there.

The F.A Cup is the most decorated competition in England and usually has a few surprises involved, but Round 4 didn’t offer too much this year:

Shrewsbury Town offered the biggest surprise, as they overcame Championship play-off contenders 3-2 in a dramatic game at New Meadow. The League One side scored a dramatic 97th minute winner through Jack Grimmer.

There weren’t any further surprises from the weekend, as Chelsea thrashed MK Dons 5-1 as Oscar scored a hat-trick. The two Manchester teams also enjoyed victory as Kelechi Iheanacho scored a hat-trick for Manchester City at Aston Villa as they won 4-0, and United won 3-1 at Derby County to earn a place in the next round.

In tennis, Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open after beating Andy Murray in straight sets, as he won his sixth title in Melbourne.

In the women’s game, Angelique Kerber defeated Serena Williams to win the Australian Open. The German won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 as she won her first Grand Slam Title.
