Keeping Connections | Self Care

Life is all about balance. You need to ensure a good work-life balance to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s important to ensure the social activities that you do have a positive effect on you, rather than a draining your energy - otherwise it can become harmful to your wellbeing.

Surround yourself with people who lift you up and support you, rather than people who aren’t there for you when you’re down. For some, socialising isn’t about the quantity of people you spend time with, but the quality of the people you’re spending time with. You may feel better if you’ve spent time with one person who cheers you up and cares about what you’ve been doing recently, than five people in a social situation.

If you find yourself lost or find it difficult to make new friends, trying new activities and opportunities can be a great way to meet new people. For example, if you like painting, and there’s a painting session happening, why not go along? This way, you’re doing something you love, and it’s an easy conversation starter to have with others who are there too.

REMEMBER. People rarely put their 'worst' self on social media, they tend to post about the best times, and best version of themselves so try to not compare yourself. This is why it’s important to use social media in moderation. Live in the real world and in the now. You’ll notice more around you in the world by spending quality time with friends, rather than getting sucked into the virtual world of your phone.
