Assessment Centre Assessor Training

Who should attend?

This short briefing is designed for current Union Team Members or Students, who are interested in becoming Recruitment Assessors for the Students' Union. Completion of this face-to-face training is required to assess candidates at Students' Union Assessment Centres.

What you will learn?

Here at Staffordshire University Students' Union, we believe in giving people opportunities to be creative and so be themselves. Union Team Members, current Students who support the Students' Union by fulfilling essential customer service roles, are recruited via our Assessment Centres; giving them just that opportunity.

To support equal opportunities and to help to the Students' Union to select the best possible team, we encourage a diverse range of individuals to take on the role of Assessor at these Assessment Centres. This has so far included our Management Teams, our Core Staff Team, our Team Leaders and our Students.

The content of this course provides the essentials you'll need to be able to fulfil your role as an assessor including:

  • The essentials of Employment Law
  • An understanding the strategic role of good recruitment
  • The format of our Assessment Centres
  • How to assess performance effectively
  • How to record and report your observations
