To raise money for the Horizon Fund and add a little ‘fun’ into fundraising we are hosting a Sports Day. The aim is to ‘find your team’ of 6, register and compete in a selection of school style sports.
-
Will the Tech Titans overthrow the competition?
-
Will the Health Heroes take the gloves off?
-
Will the Creative Dynamos design their way to victory?
-
Will the Boardroom Bosses blaze a trail to the trophy?
-
Will the Sports Champs be the first to cross the line?
-
Or will the Education Stars outwit us all?
Impossible to call it?! Sign up and let’s find out!
How to register your team:
The cost per team of 6 is £30, £5 per person. Maximum of 20 teams of 6 people?.
The team donation to take part is paid to giving.staffs.ac.uk and the team’s name is entered into the free text.
Teams are encouraged to raise more money prior to the day and can donate more than £5 per head if they choose to.
All funds raised will go towards the total for the Horizon Fund – Find your Team fundraising campaign which supports Staffordshire University students with Opportunity awards. These opportunities enhance their time with us allowing them to take part in educational trips, employment opportunities or much needed items for their degree.

What sports are included?
Egg and Spoon race – 1 athlete:
On one, two, three and go, try to run as fast as you can to the finishing line without the egg rolling off the spoon. ?If your egg falls, start again. The winner is whoever crosses the finishing line first with their egg still balanced on the spoon and an arm behind their back.?
Relay Race – 6 athletes:
During each leg run, the athlete must carry a baton and hand it over to the next team member. The baton exchange must happen within a 20m changeover box, located 10m before and 10m after the start of each leg, starting from the second relay runner.?
Going through hoops – 1 athlete:
On your marks, get set, go! Starting at the first hoop, each athlete must pick the hoop up, place it over their head and down their body. You cannot move to the next hoop until the current one is back on the floors. Fastest athlete wins!?
3-legged race – 2 athletes:
A pair of athletes are chosen from the team, ideally matching or similar height and build. Each competitor stands next to their partner and puts their arm around their waist. The inside legs are brought together, and a rope is used to tie them together. Line all the pairs up, and race to a finish line.?
Bean bag race – 1 athlete:
One athlete from each team will start by balancing a bean bag on their head. Each of these athletes will move as quickly as possible to the other end of the race area and back without letting the bean bag fall off. ?If the bean bag falls off, you go back to the start. ?The first team to successfully reach the end with their beanbag still on their head is the winner!?
Tie breaker - Tug of war:
The players begin tugging the rope when the referee gives the signal. Each player pulls backwards as hard as they can. The teams continue pulling until the center of the rope (tape mark) crosses where the referee is standing. The game ends when the referee declares one team has successfully pulled the past the centre.
